You've just slaughtered the last of the zombie hoard ... MAYBE you should wash your hands and face.  In this presentation we will look at depictions of infectious disease in art and fiction, and the impact that science communication, art and creative works can have on public health. We will use fictional infectious diseases, such as zombieism and greyscale, and identify parallels in the real world to better understand how the medical and public health community react to real-life outbreaks. 


Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to
- Evaluate the cultural impact of portrayals of infectious disease in popular fiction
- Contrast fictional portrayals of infectious disease transmissionadn prevention with real world situations
- Describe potential for public health and science communication via popular media arts
